Include a Hashtag when posting. Try to keep each hashtag as simple as possible. We recommend:
#govtjobs, #govtech, #ITjobs, #workwithpurpose, #civictech
Shorten long links when including job descriptions in a social post.
You can do this by entering the original URL at TinyURL and then copying the resulting (shorter!) link into the social post.
Increase amplification by encouraging re-sharing. On LinkedIn, use the phrase “Share with your thoughts!”
This can lead to higher engagement vs. just typing “Please repost” because LinkedIn’s algorithm favors more words / more engaging language.
Get familiar with best practices for different channels like: LinkedIn and Instagram (via FlexJobs guide)
Encourage employees on your team to add a “Hiring” banner to their LinkedIn profile, when appropriate.
Post at the same time of day, ideally early to mid-morning for your intended audience, and to do it consistently, ie, always at 9:45 am
Use a Social Template to plan and review what will be / has been posted.
Use different images when possible, instead of reposting the same image over and over.
When possible, we recommend including a beautiful, vibrant image with your post. Social media users will be more likely to share, repost, and amplify posts with beautiful and relevant images.
Create an images folder that team members can use when posting about job openings.
Showcase a wide range of images that reflect the cultural and geographic diversity, iconic landmarks, and the real people of your region.
Avoid using the same image(s) in every post
