Hiring Data
What Is Hiring Data?
Hiring data is the collection of metrics and information related to an organization's recruitment and hiring activities, used to analyze and improve the efficiency and efficacy of the hiring process.
Unlock Insights and Innovate with Hiring Data
There are several metrics leaders and hiring teams can use to understand how well the talent acquisition process is performing, and where to optimize as a result. This link provides a great starting list of global benchmarks for performance targets for IT and Development/Software Engineering roles.
Most organizations should be able to generate the data outlined below, even if they have not been previously engaged in tracking it.
Hiring Data to Collect
Time to Fill
The time between receiving approval to open a job and when a job offer is accepted by a candidate
3 months or less
Time to Hire
The total time candidates are in your hiring process from application to offer acceptance or declination
1-2 months, with consistent touch points
Interview to Hire Ratio
The number of candidates interviewed before a hiring selection is made and offer is accepted
Can vary depending on role, an optimized process for individual contributor roles can range between 4-7 candidates for a single role
For deeper insights, consider measuring the following:
Conversion rates - number of candidates that do and do not advance to the next assessment / interview phase
Candidates experience / satisfaction
Talent pool diversity - race, binary gender, veteran and disability status using voluntarily provided EEO data where available
Offer acceptance and/or candidate declined ratio
Where to Start
Start by conducting analysis on data sets you already have. Reach out to your HR and/or Operations team to determine what hiring metrics they're already tracking, and what’s possible in the future.
